Liscune National School, Girls Register, 1863-1912
Girls Registers, though from July 1909 includes also serves as boys registers. These entries are annotated ‘Transferred to Boys’ Register’.
Pre-printed register recording details of pupils registered to attend the National School. Recording pupil’s full name, dated of entrance, register number, date of birth, religious denomination, (general Roman Catholic) residence, position or occupation or parent or guardian (generally farmer), and the name and county of the last national school at which the pupil attended, if relevant. For each year of attendance at the school includes the total number of days attended, class in which enrolled, date of admission to that class, and results of examination in each year, up to 1900. These may be recorded as 0, 1 or 2 for subjects such as Spelling, Writing, Arithmetic, Geography, Grammar, Needlework. After 1900 the word ‘promoted’ (to next class) in usually all that is inserted. Also includes details columns for details records of school fees paid, date pupil’s name was struck of the register, date re-admitted and destination of pupils. The latter is rarely completed, though general if it is included it indicates the name of the secondary school to which the pupil advanced.
