Portumna Poor Law Union, Medical Relief Register for the Portumna Dispensary, 1881-1884
Medical Relief Register for the Portumna Dispensary district recording details such as date of presentation of ticket (granting permission to avail of relief) by the patient to the Medical Officer, name of patient, residence of patient, age, disease for which the patient was treated (such as sore hand, shingles, bronchitis, hernia, toothache and influenza) date of each attendance from the commencement to the termination of the case, prescriptions and treatment given in each case, and the result, such as ‘Relieved’, ‘Cured’, ‘Sent to Hospital’ or ‘Dead’. Also includes index (A-K) of patients. Includes several counter-folios of Ticket for Attendance at Dispensary giving doctor’s name, patient’s name, age and residence, date and signature of the Member of Dispensary Committee, Relieving Officer, or Warden.
