Galway County Council / Register of Mortgages, 1959 - 1974

Register of mortgages in respect of loans taken out by Galway County Council for various projects, recording details such as date of deed of instruction, parties to same, such as the Office of Public Works or the National Bank Ltd., purpose for which loan was obtained, amount secured by mortgage, date when installments received, repayments (within what period, rate of interest %), special area chargeable, date when mortgage finalised, and observations.  In some instances references Galway County Council minute number and date. Example of mortgages include:  

-   Mar 1959, Kilkerrin / Moylough Water supply scheme (1st loan), £43,750 over 25 years at rate prevailing (f1);

-   Dec 1962, St Brendan's Home, heating installation, £5,000 over 15 years at rate prevailing (f9);

-   Feb 1967, Provision of 286 cottages, £36,250 over 35 years at rate prevailing (f18);

-   [1971], Library van and branch library, Dunmore, £4,650 over 3 years, rates prevailing (f30);

-   Nov 1971, Contribution to Salthill swimming pool, £30,000 over 5 years, rates prevailing (f36);

-   Apr 1973 - Supplementary Housing Grants, £265,000 over 25 years (f45); and

-   May 1973, Knocknacarra Sewerage Scheme, £55,000, over 30 years (f48).
